Global Experts Assemble in New Delhi for The Blue
Economy Summit 2026 to Chart a Sustainable Oceanic
Future
NEW DELHI — June 1, 2026 —
As global attention increasingly turns toward the critical role
of oceans in planetary survival and economic resilience, New
Delhi is set to host The Blue Economy Summit 2026.
Scheduled for 5 and 6 June 2026, the high-level Summit
will take place from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Multipurpose
Hall, India International Centre (IIC), 40 Lodi Estate, New
Delhi.
Under the timely theme "Harnessing Ocean Wealth: Innovation,
Inclusion and Sustainability," the two-day Summit serves as
a vital platform for Policymakers, International Diplomats,
Union Ministers, Ambassadors, Vice Chancellors, and leading
intellectuals. Together, they will deliberate on the ecological
and economic imperative of managing our marine resources
responsibly and judiciously.
Landmark Book Release and Global Roadmap
A major highlight of the Summit’s inaugural day will be the
official release of two seminal books co-authored by renowned
environmental strategists and scholars, Dr. Priyaranjan
Trivedi and Dr. Markandey Rai:
·
"The Blue Manifesto: A 100 Point Global Roadmap for Oceanic
Prosperity and Planetary Survival" – A comprehensive,
actionable blueprint designed to guide governments and
international bodies toward balancing industrial marine
activities with aggressive conservation frameworks.
·
"Blue Economy: Global Vision for Ocean Sustainability" –
A definitive volume analyzing global case studies, institutional
frameworks, and the socio-economic impact of sustainable ocean
governance.
Honouring Excellence in Marine Leadership
To recognize groundbreaking contributions to marine
preservation and sustainable maritime industrial practices, the
Summit organizers have instituted a prestigious series of
Awards. These accolades will be conferred upon selected global
and domestic experts across different thematic sessions over the
two-day event. The awards aim to highlight exceptional research,
corporate responsibility, and grassroots innovations in the blue
economy sector.
The Broader Horizon: Addressing Critical Marine Challenges
The Blue Economy Summit 2026 arrived at a crucial juncture.
Beyond traditional sectors like shipping and fisheries, the
modern blue economy encompasses renewable marine energy (wave
and tidal), blue carbon sequestration, marine biotechnology, and
sustainable coastal tourism. However, unlocking this
multi-trillion-dollar potential requires tackling several
intersecting crises:
·
The Plastic and Pollution Epidemic: Industrial runoff,
untreated sewage, and macro/microplastics continue to choke
marine ecosystems. Summit panels will look directly into
circular economy models to eliminate land-based pollution before
it reaches the coastlines.
·
Overfishing and Biocapacity Pressure: With a significant
percentage of global fish stocks fished beyond sustainable
limits, experts shall advocate for advanced AI-driven maritime
surveillance and strict enforcement of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
·
Climate Change and Ocean Acidification: Oceans absorb
roughly more than 30% of anthropogenic carbon dioxide, leading
to rapid acidification that destroys coral reefs and disrupts
marine food webs. Discussions will center on leveraging "Blue
Carbon" (mangroves, seagrasses, and salt marshes) as natural,
highly efficient carbon sinks.
·
Inclusivity for Coastal Communities: True sustainability
cannot exist without equity. The summit heavily emphasizes
"Inclusion," ensuring that artisanal fishers and indigenous
coastal populations are not marginalized by large-scale
commercial expansion, but are instead integrated into technology
sharing and financial credit systems.
·
Peace and security in the Indo-Pacific-Region:
Experiencing the blocked of strait of Hormuz by Iran due to war,
the whole world is experiencing hardship and price rise due to
crude oil supply constraints. The Summit will discuss
extensively about promoting peace and security I the sea
globally and in particular in the Indo-Pacific-Region.
·
By fostering a collaborative ecosystem where science meets
policy, The Blue Economy Summit 2026 aims to transition from
mere dialogue to binding, actionable regional partnerships that
protect our blue planet for generations to come.
